My name is Lukas Myers. I recently received my PhD in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. I am currently a postdoctoral teaching fellow at Auburn University.

My research focuses on the ethical, social, and political dimensions of art, with an emphasis on the philosophy of humor.

My dissertation defends a novel philosophical theory of ridicule, it's social functions, and its constitutive rules. In other published work I defend state funding for the arts and consider the limitations of ethical restrictions in humor.

When I am not being a tortured philosopher, I spend time writing and recording music, playing Magic: The Gathering, losing at chess, and playing tennis.
